The Easter Bunny will be making an appearance at the Larry Joe Harless Center on Sunday, April 5, 2009 from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. for a very interesting egg hunt entitled, “Eggstravaganza 2009”.
This egg hunt, sponsored by the Center along with the Town of Gilbert, will be like no other excursion local kids have ever participated in during the Easter Holiday.
Not only will they host an outside egg hunt, but there will also be a flashlight egg hunt, held in the gymnasium, and a pool egg hunt.
“We are really excited about the celebration and we hope for a good turn-out,” said Eric Hatfield, recreation director for LJHCC.
“This is the first year the Town and the Center have ever hosted an egg hunt, but we think the flashlight and pool hunt will definitely bring a new dynamic to the traditional eggs hunts people have became accustomed to.”
“This event will have something that everyone can enjoy, but most of all we want to give the kids who attend a memorable experience,”
According to a press release from the LJHCC Director Cheryl Mitchem, an event pass will have to be purchased in advance or the day of the event for children wishing to compete in the flashlight and pool hunt. This pass will allow individuals to access not only to the hunts but the to all the center’s facilities.
The event pass prices are $3 per child; $5 per adult; or $10 for a family of four.
At the end of the day an outside egg hunt will be held for the community and individuals will not be required to purchase a pass for that event.
Mitchem is looking for some of the local church groups help with the celebration by telling or performing the Resurrection Story in a small skit or by using props.
Churches, businesses or individual sponsors can also chip in by purchasing day passes for those who may not be able to afford the inside activities.
“We would really like to see the entire community get involved with this because we would really like to make it an annual celebration,” said Hatfield. “Anyone interested in doing a skit or sponsoring a day pass for a child or just volunteering would be welcome to participate.”
