The Gilbert Lady Lions won their sectional by defeating Man Thursday, Feb. 25. The Lady Lions are pictured here accepting their trophy along with Head Coach Don Taylor (right) and Assitant Coach Mark Dean (back). The Lady Lions will play Charleston Catholic in regional play at Gilbert Wednesday, March 3 at 7 p.m.
Gilbert’s Crystal Lester once again almost outscored the competition with the game high of 34 points, just 5 shy of Man’s total score. Danielle Butcher scored 16 points for the Lady Lions during the sectional game, Keasha Browning scored 3 points, Brianna New scored 2, and Kalenia Ellis scored 1 point.
Gilbert sank a total of 17 field goals, (2's) 3 three-pointers, and sank 13 of 21 from the foul line.
Paige Stacy led Man in scoring with 19 points, Summer Sword scored 7, Tabby Johnson, Taylor Whited, and Malorie Vance each scored 4 points, and Rebekah Vance scored 1 point.
The Lady Lions will play Charleston Catholic in regional play at Gilbert Wednesday, March 3 at 7 p.m.
