The Larry Joe Harless Community Center (LJHCC) hosted the its 2010 Eggstravaganza on Sunday.

Approximately 40 children attended the Easter egg hunt, which consisted of a flashlight egg hunt in the gym; a pool egg hunt, and a community egg hunt in the lobby. Originally the community egg hunt was scheduled to take place outside, but the weather forced the center to relocate the event.

“The Larry Joe Harless Community Center was pleased to partner with the Town of Gilbert to once again provide a Community Easter Egg Hunt to the children and families in our community," said Cheryl Mitchem, LJHCC executive director. "LJHCC has been used so much this past year for times of disaster, including last year’s flood recovery efforts and this past winter’s power outages, that it was nice to come together to celebrate," she added. “Recreation Director Eric Hatfield and his staff did a wonderful job on this year’s event."

LJHCC Recreation Director Eric Hatfield stated that although the turn-out was lower than last year he still felt the egg hunt was a success.

"The children really seemed to enjoy it which is what our target was," said Hatfield.

"The event went really smoothly and I thank my staff for doing a wonderful job."
