Chief Judge Michael Thornsbury conducted the proceedings in Mingo County Circuit Court and accepted the pleas. Assistant Mingo County Prosecutor Teresa D. Maynard appeared for the state of West Virginia at the hearings.
“It is expected that several other cases will be resolved by guilty pleas next week,” said Mingo County Prosecuting Attorney C. Michael Sparks.
Sentences will be imposed at 9 a.m., July 14, on the following defendants:
– Billy Lee Evans, 30, Williamson, who pleaded guilty to delivery of a Schedule I controlled substance (Marijuana), as charged in Count I of his April 2010 indictment. Evans, who was represented by Attorney Jerry M. Lyall, is exposed to confinement in a state correctional facility for an indefinite term of not less than one year nor more than five years.
– Wallace Green Justus, 37, Meador, entered a plea of guilty to delivery of a Schedule I controlled substance (Marijuana), as charged in Count I of his April 2010 indictment. Justus is exposed to confinement in a state correctional facility for an indefinite term of not less than one year nor more than five years. Attorney Kathryn Cisco-Sturgell represented the defendant.
– Tony Randall Mitchem, 30, Varney, pleaded guilty to two counts of Conspiracy in the delivery of a Schedule II controlled substance (Oxycodone), as charged in Counts II and IV of his April 2010 indictment. Mitchem is exposed to a sentence of confinement in a state correctional facility for an indefinite term of not less than one year nor more than five years for each conviction. He was represented by Attorney Marsha Webb Rumora.
– Chester Allen White, 24, Williamson, pleaded guilty to delivery of a Schedule I controlled substance (Marijuana), as charged in Count I of his April 2010 indictment. White is exposed to confinement in a state correctional facility for an indefinite term of not less than one year nor more than five years. White’s attorney was Jerry M. Lyall.
Senior Trooper B.R. Moore of the West Virginia State Police and Williamson Police Lt. C.D. Rockel were the investigating officers in the Evans, Justus and White cases. Mingo County Sheriff’s Cpl. N. Mines was the investigator in the Mitchen case.
